Amorgos can be reached by regular ferry or high speed catamaran. The distance from Piraeus, port in Athens, to Katapola port is 138 nautical miles and to Aegiali port is about 148 nautical miles (10-11 hours to either port in Amorgos). This island is also connected with many nearby Cycladic islands, as well as some in the Dodecanese chain, such as Astypalea and Rhodes. Day trips to nearby islands within the Cyclades, such as Syros, are possible if booked on local boat, Skopelitis, from Amorgos' ports directly, as this ship is not in the regular ferry system.
