Although Anafi is an island small in size, it is not one devoid of excellent tastes and cuisine. It is famous first and foremost for its spaghetti with lobster, one of many different varieties you could find in Greece. Do not miss the opportunity to try this dish, referred to locally as Bouchtismenoi. This is a true local favorite, not something you'll find on the beaten tourist menu.
Don't forget to go to the source trying the honey of the island. Anafi's wonderful local honey is often found in Skaltsouniα, a sweet filled with almonds and sesame seeds. This honey is also found in the famous candy, Koufeto, a sweet traditionally made for weddings and baptisms, composed of roasted almonds and sesame seeds.
Sisamomelo, made with roasted sesame seeds and honey, is another local sweet to accompany Anafi marriage ceremonies.
Other Anafi dishes worth a taste include Zaforisto, a bread containing Saffon (giving it a special color and taste); as well as Balotia, a homeade pasta tossed in a tomato, garlic and cheese sauce. Last but not least, the Vrasti cheese must be had, fermented in a boiling and sun-drying process creating a very soft and fresh flavor.
